News Briefs: March 8, 2021

Shanken News Daily included the global launch of Champagne Bollinger R.D. 2007 in its daily news briefs section. Introduced on Monday, March 8, International Women’s Day, R.D. 2007 is “a vintage bottling paying tribute to Lily Bollinger, who led the business from 1941 to 1971.”

The piece offers further details, pricing and US launch details for April. The description continues, “RD 2007 is an old vintage released shortly after its disgorgement and with a very low dosage, as Madame Bollinger released a 1952 vintage offering in 1967. The new release will feature labeling resembling that same 1952 vintage. A blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, it’s composed of grapes from 14 crus of which 91% are grand crus and 9% premier crus.”

Bollinger is one of the rare Grande Marques that’s still family owned. Known for its rich, elegant and polished style of Champagne, their outstanding wines are the result of rigorous attention to detail and incredibly labor-intensive practices that few houses are willing to undertake. Underscoring its excellence, Bollinger has remained British secret agent James Bond's Champagne of choice since 1973.
